Krissman & Silver LLP is a boutique plaintiff’s personal injury law firm based in downtown Long Beach, CA. With a small but dedicated team of six—three attorneys and three legal staff—the firm handles a range of personal injury cases that often require out-of-state service of process. 

In this client success story, Legal Assistant Tina Rahman speaks with us about how Krissman & Silver transitioned from using multiple service providers to unifying their litigation support using One Legal’s platform. 

The challenge: Lack of internal organization

As the legal assistant to two attorneys, the responsibility of handling eFiling, process serving, and other litigation support fell largely on Tina.

“Managing service of process comes with a lot of juggling,” Tina explains. “Constantly having to follow up and not being able to rely on the process server to return a proof of service in a timely manner created more work and stress.”

Recalling a specific incident, Tina notes, “We had difficulty during a serve where our server abandoned the job instead of making a sub-service attempt. I had to hire another process server, who correctly sub-served the documents. It’s incredibly frustrating when process servers don’t follow instructions and it can lead to bottlenecks in our work.”
